Hi, I’m Karen and welcome to Eleos Herbals!
mercy: kindness or good will towards the miserable and the afflicted, joined with a desire to help them
of men towards men: to exercise the virtue of mercy, show one's self merciful
of God towards men: in general providence; the mercy and clemency of God in providing and offering to men salvation by Christ
the mercy of Christ, whereby at his return to judgment he will bless true Christians with eternal life.
I see plants as the medicine God made for the bodies God made. The fit is just too beautiful and too precise to be accidental.
The word Eleos is translated from the Greek as "tender mercy" in the New Testament, and in my experience, plants are just that--a beautiful expression of God's love for all people. Plants and their therapeutic properties serve to bring our bodies (and in many cases, our spirits) the strength and direction required for healing to take place.
My chosen vocation as an herbalist is a way for me to take these gifts from God and put them to use helping people. You might say that Eleos is my calling.
I am trained in the tradition of Western Folk Herbalism, having completed the requirements of a Master Herbalist at the North American School of Clinical Herbalism in 2014. I have built on that foundation with more than two years formal training in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine with the East West School of Planetary Herbology. My goal is to complete that esteemed program and then the additional requirements for acceptance into the American Herbalists Guild. I don't currently specialize in any one field, but I do have a heart for women's issues, and for people living with mental illnesses.
It is probably also important for you to know I am a person who chooses large quantities of coffee over smoothies, cheeseburgers over kale, books over television and hope always.
Bottom line: Jesus keeps me real, my family keeps me anchored, my old puppy keeps me moving and the amazing gift of herbal abundance keeps me happily busy.
I would love to get to know you better. Please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
